The Story Behind Kayer
I grew up on Perumpalam, a small island in Alappuzha, Kerala, reachable only by boat. As a child, I watched the women of our village turn coconut husk into yarn by hand — soaked in the backwaters, beaten, spun thread by thread into something strong enough to last for years.
Kayer means yarn. It's a tribute to that craft, and to the community that has kept it alive for generations.
Our aim is simple: to bring this beautiful, naturally sustainable material into modern homes — with a design language that feels as at home in a contemporary space as it does in tradition. Coir is a byproduct of the coconut, not a resource taken from the earth, and it returns to it just as gently. Every Kayer piece carries that story forward.
